Sicily Garden Tour
As an escort for Pacific Horticulture’s Sicilian trip, I was reminded how deeply design is tied to place. The gardens here carry the weight of history, layered among Roman ruins, shaped by volcanic soil, and framed by the Mediterranean light. We visited estates where ancient walls and new plantings coexist naturally, each enhancing the other. Local designers spoke about working with stone, wind, and a dry landscape, creating spaces that feel both timeless and alive. Between visits, we shared meals with growers and storytellers who view the landscape itself as their canvas. Sicily showed us how a garden can be both preservation and modern expression—rooted in history, yet ever evolving.
