November signals the onset of cold and rainy season! Here are ways to prepare your garden for the rain in November
Plant/Purchase
- Plant California Natives
- Transplant shrubs and young trees to new locations
- Plant ground covers
- Plant kale and flowering cabbage
- Finish filling flowerbeds with cool-season flowers for winter and spring bloom
Trim/Prune/Mow/Divide
- Prune pine trees and other conifers now through February
- Divide and transplant agapanthus
- Watch red fountain grass for new growth which is the sign to cut it back
Fertilize
- Don’t feed roses this month
Water
- Once rains arrive, stop watering succulents growing in the ground
- Water all garden plants less frequently now as weather cools and rains begin.
